Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.
– Albert Einstein
I have been ruminating over what ‘Imagination’ is for many months now. It’s a rabbit hole like no other. Consider the quote above, how can we not focus some time and attention on Imagination? Just allowing Einstein’s words to wash through my mind I am more inspired and motivated to go deeper and deeper down into the experience of my own imagination. Everytime I do so I am amazed at how free we truly are.
Life is what imagine it to be, or as the saying goes. Perception is Reality, right? Perception is nothing other than an imagined idea, a thought we keep thinking, a story we tell, and so on. However, the (non-)breaking news here is that in the present moment we can always IMAGINE GREATER. We can imagine differently, we can make a decision to stop telling the story we do not like, the idea that does not feel good and so on. We as entrepreneurs can apply this to any aspect of our businesses and create even more exciting opportunities for ourselves. Why not? Imagination is free, its fun, its exciting, inspiring, and doesn’t take more than a few minutes. Don’t take my word for it, look below at what other great minds have to say about imagination:
The imagination is man’s power over nature. – Wallace Stevens
To imagine is everything, to know is nothing at all. – Anatole France
You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus. – Mark Twain
Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake. – Henry David Thoreau
I share all of these quotations to impress upon you the scope, the depth, and the variety of great minds that see Imagination as one of the most important aspects of our lives, and can lead to ALL that we truly wish for in life: love, peace, abundance, happiness, inspiration, and anything else we can dream up for our lives, our businesses, our relationships!
Phil and I did a whole show on this topic last night: http://goo.gl/kmFOI2
I leave you with one last quote, that was shared with my by one of my favorite clients that has become a friend, that I think emphasizes why its so important to imagine:
“If we inquire deeply into the facets of life that makes us believe we are separate only beings, we can find that there is a completely different possibility that is true: that we are not separate at all.” – Jason Shulman
